Default Aux input socket replacement ?

Evening

Has anyone replaced their Aux input socket by the cup holder/arm rest ?

Mine has become worn over the years and is a bit loose when inserting the iPhone cable.

I'm hoping I can easily remove the cup holder, cut the 2 wires and solder in a new socket that will clip back into the cup holder. That's the plan anyway.

Thanks

I've found diagrams showing that the socket can be purchased separately and clips into a cable. £30 just for the socket though.

Wondered what you were on about BTW, the socket in the boot is already monitored by the car, and I believe it will turn it off if the battery gets too low...
