Need top weight over rear axle.
Hello forum friends, I just joined the forum but the search bar isn't working for me. I have a simple request. I want to move a vintage safe weighing maybe 200 lbs. Is that an overload on the back axle of my 2003 V70? I have a truck but we'd have to lift the safe a foot higher then the car and I'm not sure I will have any guys to do the heavy lifting. Thank you.

I moved a heavier safe with my 2002, so you will be OK.

200 lbs is about 90Kg, or in real world terms 4 or 5 bags of sand from B&Q. I wouldn't hesitate in putting that in a V70 (and have done many times).
Maybe put a sheet of ply down to protect the boot area floor from damage.

I've had more than that just on the roof bars, and twice that again in the boot all the way up to the lake district. it did have that 'lowered' look but it ran fine

If you are concerned, follow the good suggestion of a decent sheet of plywood to cover the load area, and help spread the load. Get the safe forward of the rear wheels to spread some of the load across all four wheels.
