Voltage Regulator Question
Just a few last jobs to do before my 1967 1800S restoration is complete. One being to replace the non functioning voltage regulator. I am baulking at paying the £175 Brookhouse want for an original Bosch item and I don't know what the Bosch part number is to search for alternatives as my car had a Huco 14v 25a unit fitted when I took it off the road. Has anyone identified a suitable alternative to the Bosch item? Would a generic 14v 25a dynamo voltage regulator do the job?

If your going for originality ignore this. But when I rebuilt my B18B engined 544 I fitted a 55amp alternator with built in regulator and did away with the original Voltage Regulator. Total cost about £70 ( eBay) So far so good!

I will be good to see if these small solid state ones work OK. I've not seen them as cheap as £27, usually £35-40, so I hope it isn't a copycat one. The original type in the larger box have been used but you do have to replace the connectors to push on ones.

VP Autoparts lists a non Bosch replacement for a much lower price.
https://vp-autoparts.com/en/artiklar...generator.html Standard Motor Products list(ed) the VR-619 voltage regulator for the 1967 Amazon; but, it may be out of production. Search around and you might be able to find someone who has it in stock. Other than those two, Bosch appears to be it. The Volvo part number is 238640. Search around and you may be able to find a lower price for the Bosch part. A new alternator with a built in voltage regulator can probably be had for about the same price as the new Bosch voltage regulator. |

At first sight this looks like it might work. It is no use to me, so if you want to try it then it would be free to a good home. I’m not far away in Corby - let me know if you want to give it a go. Alan

Thanks for the kind offer Alan but I'm sure I need a 25-30 amp regulator.

I've now ascertained that the original Bosch part number for the voltage regulator is F 026 T02 204. This cross refers to a VW regulator 113 903 803 E. I have ordered one of these for £27 delivered. I will update as to whether it does the trick after its arrived and I've fitted it.
