XC60 Family Pack worth it?
Hi
Just looking for thoughts on how well family pack works in XC60. Am getting ready to place order on 2.4 Drive SE and considering options. Think family pack sounds good but I wonder whether prolonged use may affect the condition of the seats over the long term. I know that, as it is all so new, no-one can give me a definitive answer on this but, as I can't find a demo that has them installed, I can't quite work out how the system works and whether, over the 5 years or so my daughter still has in a booster seat, the seats will get knackered! Has anyone who has got it tell me how it works and whether my concerns are valid. Everyone seems to love their XC60 - anyone with anything different to say? |

The booster seats should last the life of the vehicle. Knowing Volvo, they will have tried and tested it's design to excess this (especially as it involves children).
On top of this, your vehicle will be covered under warranty for 3 years. Hopefully you'll feel more at ease now.

I have the Family Pack in my XC60 Drive SE
Well worth it - very well done - very sturdy. Adjusts to 2 heights. Save a lot of hassle. The seat is fitted with an integrated booster seat (which is actually the orginal seat) - this can be heightened to 2 levels and retracted very easily. Mechanism is object lesson in Swedish design - has the same functionality in the V70 too. Note it does not cover the central seat - so you have one behind the passenger and driver's seats. Quote:

Thanks - while we're at it, any thoughts on the cheapest way to get iPod connectivity. Do i have to upgrade stereo or can I get a USB connection without doing this?

Don't know if there is a stand-alone option for USB, but the upgraded "High Performance Audio" is well worth it, unless you fancy the full hog "Dynaudio" which is first class (I have this and do not regret it!).

Cheapest - get standard audio system - connect Ipod thro ' AUX port in the centre armrest - can use stereo volume control on sterring wheel but have to use Ipod itself to change track
High Performance audio is an extra 400 quid of so and allow you to connect your ipod directly into the stereo (again in armrest) but allow full control of ipod via wheel control and track display and change on display where radio details usually are YOu then get into the silly money territory with the other options For me the first using the AUX port gives me everything I need |

Happypearl,
There is a demo of the booster seats in action on Youtube - I think it's on one of the American car dealer sites, but I've looked at so many over the last couple of months I can't remember. |

Don't forget you also get the button to disable the rear windows and doors as well as the booster seat. My son is always pulling the handle in the back so the child locks are invaluable - note: you can turn off the locks using the key in the rear door but it is not at all convenient.

Do you charge it using cig. lighter then? Does this mean there are wires all over the place or are they both in the centre armrest?

I have taken the 12v DC feed from the cig lighter in the rear of the centre console to provide power via the Ipod lead which is now next to the AUX port so both are in the same place
