I Think I Know What This Might Be! (ABS UNIT)
Hi there,
This has happened 3 times so far over the past 2 months. The ABS light turns on after about 15 - 30 mins of driving. When I turn off my engine and restart, the light goes off only to come back on maybe a few weeks later. My thougts: ABS is actually faulty or ABS solder joints I don't think the ABS is faulty as the car still stops fine and sharp (no excessive brake pressure is needed). What does everyone else think. Also if it is the ABS solder joints wouldn't it just be easier to get a new or used ABS unit off eBay? Thanks

Before I do anything (which by the way I very much guess I can't actually do this) do you think I should wait for light to go on permantly so I can at least tell whether my handy work has paid off? Thanks Also surely eBay would be easier?

Oh, I just thought. The next time the light turns on I could check the ABS ECU read out (flashy red light) to see what it says...?

What year is the car?
The early units don't have the dry joint probem. |

I removed my Stop Light Switch today and had a look at it but couldn't seem to 'fix' it or even open the casing (if that is the source or the problem). So I have now re-installed it and adjusted it correctly (I hope). I'll see if my ABS light comes on again tonight. All of this might have just been from the Stop Light Switch no being properly adjusted? I doubt it, but who knows...?
I'll let you all know tonight after my drive home from work (that's when the ABS light usually turns on). Thanks Photo included of my Stop Light Switch. (Click to enlarge)

Link to a PDF containing a few details on the removal of the Brake Position Sensor <<< More likely the problem with my car:
Although this is for the V70XC I think it's not far off the 850 sensor removal: http://www.v70xc.com/resources/how-t...-replacing.pdf

That was rather easy! I was expecting some really awkward design just to remove it.
So here it is, my position sensor removed from my brake servo: P1010001.jpg Now here is the ultimate question. How do it get inside the damn thing without breaking it? (If not I'll replace it with a second-hand one)
