Mysterious (to me) plug.
Anyone know what the function of this plug/device is ? Found adjacent to dipstick tube. V70 D5 MY 2002.
I found it disconnected and have now reconnected, but have no idea what it's for. Not aware of any problem or error logged either before or after reconnection. I have trawled Vida parts to try and find out, but not had Vida long so have failed thus far. Time to show how clever you can be ! Thanks. |

If I'm seeing that right and that big hole is just a close up of the dipstick tube, then the connector joins to some sort of sensor on the block, surely
water temp / oil temp / oil pressure? |

"water temp / oil temp / oil pressure?", that's what I would like to know. Because of its location I am thinking oil level/pressure/temperature, but again would like to know. I guess I could run Vida whilst connecting/disconnecting the plug, but its not the easiest plug to get at with big hands and this seems to be a bit of a "needle in a haystack" approach. Simmy, I suspect the label would only likely show a part number for the loom to which it is attached ? Also thought I would throw out a challenge to the forum ! So no prize for you (yet) Stuart (or Simmy)! Last edited by Lancee; Sep 30th, 2022 at 11:34. |

That's the plug for the oil pressure sensor, part number 3545696. If you haven't got VIDA check out Partsouq. They've got all the OEM parts diagrams free to access online for loads of makes including Volvo.

A little surprised that no error code was flagged when disconnected, but I guess if it's a switch as such no connection means a good oil pressure is registered And the prize goes to ! |

It would seem that according to Vida my car has no oil pressure sensor (that can be found within Vida), although one is apparently fitted. Also tried Partsouq for my Model/Year car but couldn't find the sensor. I may look at the live data later when the weather improves ! Thanks again. Last edited by Lancee; Sep 30th, 2022 at 12:28. |

dammit my first thought was oil pressure but that was based on thinking about where it is on my mini engine and that could have been misleading so I hedged my bets Last edited by stuart bowes; Sep 30th, 2022 at 11:59. |
