How do you manage Adblue with your car
I have bought Adblue in a 10 litre container, unfortunately the plastic hose that is supposed to screw on the bottle does not stay on the container. The container is quite unwieldy This was bought at an Esso service station.
I have also bought a 1.5 litre container in a very useable sized container that had a very good connection method however the connector appears to be designed as a one trip product. This was bought at a Shell service station. To use the Adblue from the 10 litre container I had to pour the liquid into a bucket and then into a bottle using a funnel and then into the car. I did spill some of the Adblue in the various transfers between containers. I think the Shell 1.5 litre container could be dismantled so that I could fill it with Adblue and keep it in the boot of the car for emergency use. The question is how do you handle Adblue for your car, do you get the dealer to top up the Adblue ignoring the handling charge search out filling stations that have Adblue dispensers on the forecourt, or fumble around with the 10 litre container risking spilling the Adblue. Thanks for any suggestions

Not my car, but the van uses adblue. I’ve found a fairly local garage that has it on the pump. It’s often in the hgv section of larger garages as they’ve used ad-blue for quite some time. Nothing to stop you using the hgv pumps if you find one stocking it, plus it’s about half the price of the containers.

I've had some success with decanting it into a new 4.4lt petrol can and using that.

I have never had a problem with the 10l containers on the works van. As for emergancy supplies, the adblue tank on the van is 20 l, I fill it with 10 l as soon as the dash shows 50% or less , that way never any danger of running out and no need to carry emergancy supplies.

I used this for my XC90 last time, worked perfectly without any spill.

I’m Hgv tech so deal with ad blue daily , be careful decanting the ad blue It crystallise in the neck and spout and you don’t want the crystals in your tank/ pump believe me , it would be better to use pump at garage or run your tank low so you can put contents of container in tank in one go , next time you are using ad blue spill some in floor you will see what I mean 90% of ad blue problems are due to contaminated ad blue
