My wife bought an XC 60 AWD185 ps geartronic 2 months ago, a big selling point for me was the rated fuel consumption figures of combined 37MPG. Unfortunately she is only getting 27 MPG! This is no better than we were getting on our Discovery 2 doing similar journeys. I wonder is anyone else out there getting close to the quoted fuel consumption?
Currently just over 8000 miles so should be well "run in". Also my 6yr old Audi A6 in similar VED bracket for CO2 emissions gives around 38mpg on similar type of journeys. |

If it is short runs to the supermarket, school runs, etc, then I would expect the fuel consumption to be high. From my point, I have just travelled just over 21000 miles in my XC60 D5 and have averaged, 37.6 mpg, from new. tem. |

In mine (although this is the 205bhp version - Geartronic) my avg is around 32mpg over 7000mls so far.

I'd have been surprized if you got the claimed fuelefficiency...
My Geartronic AWD V70 just barely gets to 34mpg, and is dropping off cause I did not do any long runs recently. And we drive VERY carefully/fuel efficient... When I got the (ex police) car, the computer showed about 20% worse (in liters per 100km, but converted this would be about: ) ~27mpg.

getting about 33mpg - only done 1500 miles from new so expect it to improve over time. Weekly runs to work which is 6 miles away on A and B roads roads.
Weekends tend to be longer runs from Preston to Cumbria. spec is in my signature 205PS version Andy

Averaging about 33MPG, best so far was 35.9, but only for a short time on a motorway. Done 4000 miles.
Something worth noting is that I get just as good consumption at 75MPH as 65MPH.

My 2003 XC70, after 96k miles averaged 38 mph, could do 50 on a long run at eco speed and towed at 30 mpg Ross to Dover. My new XC60 geartronic has yet to average 30 mpg. Official XC70 figures are 41.6/33.2/24.8 vs 46.3/37.7/28.0 for the new XC60. The XC60 should therefore be much better than the XC70. The dealer sales manager's XC60 does almost exactly the same as mine. I have done a measured run in both cars.
The question is : are official mpg figures part of the sales contract and if so, how do you measure them in your car? |
