Saving Kiloran's 940
Following on from Kiloran's thread where his engine has been diagnosed as toast he has employed me to save his 940!
The plan was originally for me to use a B230ET bottom end and source a 530 cylinder head from ebay etc to build up a 2.3 to replace the dead B200F. However when I mulled it over there would be issues with insurance, DVLA & blanking the turbo oil drain so I decided to have a look on ebay to see what was out there and there was a B200F for sale with a link to a video showing it running smoothly so he bought it and got it delivered to me. So the plan is for me to replace all the gaskets, seals and belts then once the engine is all done we will get the 940 transported to me and I'll swap the engines over. I've ordered all the bits I will need from Volvo... hopefully, we shall see what surprises it holds for me. The only bits that aren't Volvo are the air filter, NGK spark plugs, coolant and oil. Some gaskets and seals are coming from GCP so will be around 2 weeks before they arrive. Good luck with all that Luke - just a thought though, would it not be cheaper for you to load up the engine and hoist into your car with tools and drive down and fit it rather than have his car transported to you?
Even paying you travel time and fuel would probably be more cost-efffective but the snag would be if you ran into any problems on start-up. Not that you should of course but we both know it isn't always plain sailing on these things and unexpected things not only can but do rear their ugly heads!

The final outcome of this should be a healthy 940, built to last, and a big pile of parts to save others. Engine I believe came with some ancillaries but no box, and it's "only" the block and head that's toast on mine.
Previous owner of the engine bought it as a stopgap whilst he was waiting for parts for a conversion I believe.

Another Volvo will be back on the road. Sounds a good project. Should simplify it being the same engine.
Look forward to updates. James |

Sneak preview of the work Luke's doing - look at the utter state of this throttle body! Engine might have been running sweet enough but it's going to need a bucket load of flush.
