Default Boost+ Unit- Any information & boost control units

Does anyone have any information about these units?

I have seen the guys in the states talking about them but not over here. Optional extra that apparently increased power under boost by managing it better? Fitted on sport models perhaps new

Mick

It was fitted as standard to the 940 sport edition and you could buy as an accessory

It increased the bhp to 190 for 30 seconds I believe

Not seen any for sale plus it's easier to just fit an MBC rather than faff about trying to fit one if you did manage to find one

Sound rather rare then, has many folk on here fitted ebc units that monitor for pinking etc?

Due to the mileage i am considering one for bit extra protection

Volvo fitted knock sensors as standard to all EFi cars and i believe even the K-Jetronic and carb models. You'll find it on the cylinder block below the ECU temp sensor (CTS) and just above the oil separator - i call it banjo shaped but that's not quite correct, you'll see what i mean though.

Interesting.

So the saab boost controller mod etc is all not needed on these later set ups?

Are you talking about an AFR gauge ? I'm not sure what you mean by an ebc unit ?

It will really depend how high you are planning on turning up the boost ?

Standard on the HPT is around 8 psi. I'd be very wary on turning it up too much on a car with 300k on it
