If there were I don't expect they'd make themselves known.

Can you imagine !?!?! I've got a 197x Volvo 1nn and I need to borrow a tool to replace the thingymajig.

Can you just jump in your car and drive all weekend and give us a hand.

I was previously a member of the MX-5 owners club and they have a guy who is a senior mechanic within a Mazda Dealership and he regularly writes 'how to's' for the benefit of the club members and he is available to answer questions. The membership do not take advantage of him either because they are only to aware of how fortunate they are to have access to his knowledge.

Seems a shame this club can't benefit in the same way.

I'm sure there are a few about but they might not want it publicised.

There are some cracking write ups on here by people who have simply rolled up their sleeves and taken the time and effort to catalog what they've done as they've gone along.

Better than any Haynes manual IMHO.

Im a professional mechanic in the small engine industry working for a manufacture of forest and groundcare equipment. Now I spend all day working on machinery and there is also a forum for it called arbtalk. The last thing I want to do when I get in is think about a chainsaw ect and most certainly not write about them on a forum. I would expect many other mechanics would feel the same way, they spend all day working on Volvos im not sure I would want to spend my evenings writing about them as well haha. Unless of course they have a serious passion and theres nowt wrong with that!

I'd say we benefit from all levels of ability on here. I'm a novice but the videos I've taken the time to make seem to have benefited some and I've not asked a question yet that couldn't be answered.
You've got owners who do things by the Volvo book and you've got some who come up with some brilliant rough and ready redneck solutions.
I'm pretty certain that there's a few technicians on here and there's definitely members whose answers I give 100% attention.
At the end of the day, if you get the answer you need, who cares what their day job is?

I could not agree more with your comments and I have already found the forum more than useful when I have run into a problem. My question was more out of curiosity than anything else.
