Quick question. I'm looking at changing my car in July and the model I'm looking at has Alcantra seats. Never had these before and don't really know what they are like. Are they cold? Do I need to be getting heated seats with them?
I'm going into the showroom at the weekend to have a look but it can't be guaranteed that they will have the right model in for me to see.

Isn't this the material that a similar texture to moleskin trousers?
Had this before and loved it. No need for heated seat either. |

That sounds good. Heated seats are essential on leather, unnecessary on cloth. It is an option box I would rather not tick.

Skoda Superb, estate most likely although I will be looking at the hatchback as well. It's a lot of car, huge boot, good lease price. It ticks all the boxes for what I need.

Make sure you specify all the parking assist options. It's a big beast to park. Nice choice.

Careful eating and drinking in the car though, because they don't shrug off stuff the way leather does. But they don't feel so cold either, and they ARE grippy, so no more sliding from side to side when "pressing on"....

Now see, that's why I will not buy a car with leather seats. Learned that lesson the hard way, cloth every time for me.
As every one knows you should not drink and drive for fear of spilling it. I do have a George wet and dry vacuum cleaner and shampoo the seats every year to keep them fresh. Paul. |

Eating and drinking is banned in my car UNLESS the drink has a sports style cap like Lucozade. They tend not to leak if they fall.
I agree that heated seats is a must with leather, but not on cloth. Thankfully my leather Recaro's don't allow me to slide around when 'pressing on' unlike the leather seats I had in the V50. |

Since 1996 I've had 6 cars[2 of which I still have]all of which had/have leather seats, and I wouldn't buy a car that didn't.All of these cars had/have seat heaters-the Omega on the rear seats too-and in all that time in all those cars I've never felt the need to turn the seat heaters on!
