Range Rover Evoque

Can the XC60 survive against this?

My money is on the Evoque

Comments very welcome.

Time will tell, people have different tastes - perhaps the question should be can the Evoque survive against a range of well established competitors?

Ouch! Have you looked at the prices, look quite reasonable until you add extras to get to the same spec as an equivalent Volvo....and you can forget asking for diiscounts.

I spec'd against our D5 SE Lux (£28k OTR) and came up with £35k!

I saw one on the M6 yesterday near Shap and all I can say is that it makes the BMW X6 look good (and that takes some doing ). It was probably the ugliest car that I have seen.

I don't see competition for the XC60 here

I must say that it's a great looking car....with the exception of the front running lights which look like something of an afterthought!

The Evoque is a stunning looking SUV / SAV.
The volvo isn't far behind on looks and has it has is beaten hands down on space etc.

Of course in 4WD guise the Evoque fights back with its superior off road system

Having said all that the evoque really is not in direct competiton with the XC60. It competes more with the BMW X1 and new Audi Q3

Having seen one parked in the street, I initially thought that they looked small, but from the early brochures, the boot space actually looks bigger than the XC60, probably at the expense of rear legroom thougStill could be a interesting choice!
I mentioned this about a month ago and no-one commented! Living near Gaydon have seen many Evoques over the last 8 month. It is a cracking looking car and even in the the basic 2WD Pure form 5 door at £28K looks competitively priced against the equivalent XC60, especially as the Pure has a fairly high entry level spec (leather, electric seats, 18" alloys, Bluetooth, ipod connectivity, DAB etc), probably the equivalent of an SE Lux / R-design?

At £28K this compares favourably with the Volvo list price of £32K - £33K for the R-Design or SE Lux, however good discounts are available for the XC60 bringing both these models back to £26.5K to £27K.

Size wise its nearly 300mm (12") shorter, but with increased luggage capacity 575l against the XC60's 495 litres, so it's either a very clever package or passenger legroom has suffered.

Even without any discount it looks competitive against the Volvo at the entry level (£28.3K list for an XC60 ES!), although I suspect discounts will be hard to get for at least a year as demand will outstrip supply IMHO.

It will certainly be on my next shortlist!
