Default ETM Problem?

Hi all I'm a new Volvo owner, got my 2001 C70 Cabriolet at the beginning of Feb. I was on my way to work this morning and the car appeared to surge at around 2000 revs in every gear. It almost felt like the turbo had "Kicked in". Never experienced this before and I've been asking myself is this the dreaded ETM problem that I have heard so much about?
The car was brought from a dealer and came with a warranty for the engine and gearbox (this runs out 1st May) so if this is the ETM problem I will take it straight back to him.
Any advise is greatly received.

Get the ECU scanned for any fault codes as these will help diagnose the fault further, a knackered ETM will usually throw up the ETS and MIL light on the dash - Mike

Thanks for the prompt reply Mike. There aren't any lights up on the dash....service light comes on when first started up then goes out after a few seconds!
Is it a main dealer thing to get the ecu checked?

You don't need to go to a main dealer to get the fault codes read, any decent garage will have a generic reader or perhaps someone you know has one, the car is OBD-11 compliant so you plug the reader in to the socket located in the center cubby box/ armrest between the two front seats (its under the cover marked OBD-II) - Mike

Vinny .. I wholley aggree with Mike ..BUT .... As you mentioned your car is under warranty til 1st May .. I think the Supplying Dealer should be a Priority Call for you within the next few days ...

Even if he says theres nothing Wrong & No Codes are present ... it would be "advantageous" for you to get it checked out ... then if the problem re occurs AFTER 1st May you have some "Leverage" with getting it repaired (Due to Reporting the "Original" Fault within the Warranty period)

+1...pretty much what I said to Vinny on the ETM thread in the 00-07 forum.
