Oil leak - the cause
For anybody still interested in following my efforts in the old thread on tracing a mystery oil leak from the front of a 240 engine;
Various causes: a) camshaft oil seal coming apart, 38,000 miles b) crankcase pressure caused by internal flaking in small suction pipe to inlet manifold c) oil pressure sender unit leaking around metal/plastic crimped joint and electrical terminal. The last was the most troublesome to trace, because it only leaked when hot at speed, and then the draught blew the oil all over the place. Hope this helps someone. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. Cliff |
