Volvo 240 Estate 60K Miles LPG Conversion
2.3i with Manual Gearbox. Just over 60k miles and all MOTs and invoices present to document this as genuine mileage.
One owner for 20 years (2 Volvo main dealer invoices for each year). Two owners since. Complete and comprehensive service history. Full Rust Master preventative waxoyl treatment 2 years ago. This included inside the chassis box sections; the chassis is immaculate. Modern top of the range LPG conversion 2 years ago. Tank in spare wheel well so no lost storage space. It is cheaper to run than a modern diesel. Recent LPG safety inspection and new MOT. No advisories. Head light reflectors have been replaced. Door wiring loom replaced (an additional brand new loom is also available for the future). Rear lights are new and seal correctly. Recent exhaust. Rear springs / shocks and suspension bushes have been replaced as and when needed so no knocking suspension. Recent distributor, spark plugs, HT leads, coil pack etc. This car is tip top condition in every respect and wants for nothing. Body work excellent. No rust whatsoever. Some slight blemises in paintwork as to be expected but really very good. The underneath, jacking points, arches etc are impeccable. Blue cloth interior is also immaculate and the front seat cushions have been repaired at great expense. No cracks or damage to the dashboard. Original reg plates, rubber floor mats, boot liner etc. Has an original Volvo dog guard. Car is equipped with modern remote central locking system with alarm and immobilizer. There are two key fobs and keys. The car also has a quality stereo install consisting of 4 x Sony door speakers and a Sony stereo with integrated ipod dock. 4 matching Pirelli tyres with plenty of life in them. This car is unique and you will not find a better one. I am open to sensible offers which reflect the quality of this example (over £4k). I also have a full length roof rack which could be included in the sale (the gutters of the car have always been protected with rubber strips so no damage on the car) and a 7 seat conversion that I could also include if you wish. OK, it's very nice and you've done a heap of work on it, but - as other people have said, and elsewhere - you cannot expect to get back what you've put into a car /house /boat /etc..
£4k is somewhat over-the-top, even though there are fewer nice examples left now thanks to banger-racing nonsense permanently taking solid cars out of circulation, but I think you'll have to compromise on to £2 to 2 + a half. Good luck anyway.

I agree. He/she is trying it on.
2k tops imho. Way more than I would give for it, but someone might. (If you need to shift it, and are open to sensible offers let me know)

Interesting views on this car. It seems to me that £4K is about tops for a very nice 240 - perhaps a tad more if it's a low mileage GLT.
A common problem in buying a 240 today is: finding a low mileage rust free one (this 60,000 mile one has recently been rust treated) and, for some, affording the running cost (i.e. petrol). With V8 Discovery's, for example, commanding more money when LPG'd, perhaps the seller might benefit from advertising more in the mainstream eg. Autotrader rather than Carandclassic and the Volvo forum - as this car may appeal more to those who want to use it as a high mileage daily driver. I would consider the car (and pay circa £4K) if I had to 'do the miles' (I currently own 2 GLT daily drivers but travel probably 50 miles a week). However, given my present driving habits, I view the LPG kit as cutting into a low mileage original car and adding complexity to a basic motor (which is part of its appeal) - which devalues it somewhat. I wish the vendor well and welcome the new member to this forum. Stuart Last edited by Mark1Stu; Nov 18th, 2015 at 16:11. |
