Tyre choices...
Hi guys,
I have a 96 1.8 v40 which is in need of two new front tyres... currently it has p6000's all round... but i have been looking at other options i don't want to spend lots but don't want to end up in a hedge! i have got a price of £70 all in per corner for p6000's.. and have looked at toyo proxes which i can get for £58 fitted per corner.. i would like to go for the toyo's to give me a bit more stick but i've been advised that having just two of the grippier tyres at the front could make the car corner strangely or even dangerously?? The garage suggested all four would need to be done if i wanted these? is this just a ploy to get me to buy more tyres or is it good advice? cheers guys |

Just put the new tyres on the back of the car. That way it wont be that long before you change the fronts and have a matching set, theres no need to change all four. You be pleased when you've got rid of the P6000s they are dire and so loud. Toyos are a good choice by the way, although I would rather pay the extra and put Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s on there(they are grippier and last longer).

i'll second that. Toyo is a good choice (i've had them), but it's still a little way off the F1's. you can get the F1's for about £70+fitting - the extra cost is worth it; especially with the drier weather now.

hi guys,
cheers for the response, very helpful! I think i am going to go for the toyo's and switch the p6000's to the front... i don't think i would ever see much of the benefits of the eagle f1's as it's a v40 not an s40.. thanks for the tips, cheers! |

no problem, but the F1's are quieter than the Toyo's too - depends on how much motorway driving you do it can make the ride much quieter.
