Default 10v manifold and 20v manifold are they the same?

In other places on here, but I can't find where, it has been suggested that the exhaust manifold on the 10v engine is different from that on the 20v, also some people think that they must be the same. Parts for volvos list them as different parts, but I have a problem today that I want to resolve.

I bought off ebay an exhaust manifold listed as 10v, but when it arrived, someone had written 20v on it. I contacted the seller (ercarparts2011), who was more than a little abrasive, and he said that he'd took it off a 10v engine, and he's not stupid, and that they are the same anyway.

How can I tell which I have been sent, without stripping the one out of the car to compare (and then finding I've got the wrong one)?

Matthew

Ooh, pictures, I've never done that before, I'm glad it worked. The one with the the braiding pulled up off the flexi pipe is off my 10v. The better condition one is what I was sold. I haven't measured them yet but I think the 10v one is a bit longer, also the 20v one has a boss on the side, presumably for something that some of the 20v engines have (does the turbo engine use the 20v manifold?).

I'm going to try and get the 20v manifold in. I'm going to have to use nuts and bolts because the one from the breakers came without studs (or threaded holes). If the manifold doesn't reach the exhaust pipe then I'll make a shim at work on Monday, if that seems feasible.

Default Volvo 855 2.5 Exhaust Manifold

hi, i have read with interest the comments surrounding the different types, i have a V 855 GLT 2.5, the engine number denotes its a B5252s, which from my younger days as an apprentice, is:

5-cylinder
2.5 litre
2-valves per cylinder

looking at the pictures mine is the same as the top, one for which unforunatley i have a sheared off stud, and it wold appear a crack on the o/s No1 cylinder.

Does anyone know if this a common fault and where to get a cheap replacement.

Thanks for anyones help in advance
