Rear right suspension(?) bushing identification
Afternoon all,
got a problem trying to identify a part that the tyre shop reckon needs replacing as the existing bushing is crumbling. Went to Volvo dealer who said they could get me a replacement part but they wouldn't tell me what it is called or the part number. Excellent!! So attached is a photo of the rear right axle from underneath. there is a bolt that runs through both connections (circled red and green). the bushing in the green circle is what the tyre shop said is crumbling and needs replacing. Can anyone identify what it is called and even cooler could tell me what part number it is and/or even if it is a DIY job. I have studied Volvo drawings but cannot get my head around what it is. Volvo is trying to sell me the entire kit (nut, bolt, both bushings) which may well be the best thing to do. But they also say I should replace the other side (entire kit) as well. So instead of one bushing, they're trying to upsell me two complete kits. I hope someone can help here. Cheers |

It is the Rear Lower Control Arm RH. You should fit the entire kit as advised and do both sides. Always replace supension and brake parts in pairs ( with the possible exception of the Nivomat units).

Really important to replace suspension components on a pair(ed) basis to ensure you get consistent handling - the same as tyres/treads.
As Greg has said, i think that you cannot buy the bushes as the whole arm well come in one complete unit. Good luck with fitting - i've never done the job so would be useful for you to share how long / difficult the job was? Nigel. |
