Default Main beam problem

Hello. I have a V70 D5 2003. For a little while now (at night) when on main beam, occasionally if I dip it, it stays on main beam and I have to flick the lever 3 times or so to get it dipped. V annoying for oncoming cars,. Incidentally sometimes when on the permanently dipped setting during the day, if I flash someone (like - 'you go first' sort of thing), it stays on main beam and again I have to flick the lever 2-3 times to cut the beam back.

Does this ring any bells please. Remedy?!

Many thanks.

It means you're not paying the little blokes behind the dash enough.

Probably the stalk but could be a control unit but where is anyones guess, hope one of the others can assist you better.

I wouldn't be the first time I've read of stalk needing replacing, far from it

apparently it's a very simple job though so there's that at least

less likely to be a control unit issue I would imagine (but I'm no expert)

just had a look on ebay and it seems the wiper one is easy to find but the indicator side is not as easy..

a single flash is only when the switch is in the side light or off position if you have the lights in the on position pulling the stalk to flash will engage main beam its just the way it is on p2 volvos

Thanks very much. Yes that is true (about the on position etc). Just to say that this happens in both positions. In the on position it goes to full but sometimes won't return first time and in the off position I find flashing ends up with the main beam staying up!
