Default Sunroof or spare?

I am considering getting a MY2011 XC90 Exec, I would like a sunroof but this means I can not order the spare wheel. Has any one gone for the sunroof then subsequently retrofitted the spare wheel and winch?

I just can't understand this as they always used to do both and mine has both. Why they don't now I don't know.

I am told that having the extra weight of having both means the gm/km would be slightly higher and that would put the xc90 in the next Road Tax group.

They are not going to change the design of the car so normally it will be possible to retrofit the spare wheel.
Maybe try to get a deal they add the spare wheel when delivered to the dealership instead of in the factory...

I am lead to believe that the whole for the winch has been blanked off. I am trying to see if it can be retro fitted by the dealer, but they are not sure.

I am sure its a bolt fitted blanking plate with a wee gasket to seal it.

Should be a 2min check if the dealer cannot confirm for your car.

That makes sense now. So from 20th March 2006 you wouldn't be able to have the spare and sunroof without changing the tax group.

I have the sunroof. Of course, it is personal choice wether you use it or not but I must have use it no more than 10 times in 12 month

The xc90 sunroof is quite small and at that price, very bad value

Only advantage it makes the car feels brighter. Only realised recently when I got in a similar xc90 and could not understand why it felt darker.

A quick play with ipad apps shows that it hads only £200 to my car. I paid £700.

Anyway, would not order it again if I had the choice

I have just had the reason confirmed when I contaced a Volvo parts company as to why you can only have one. I am just trying to see if I can get the parts and fit them post build.

We spent a lot of time finding one witha sunroof due to the extra light they give and I use mine a lot especially when driving through the forest at 40 as it's cheaper than having the air con on and not noisy. It would be better if it was a panoramic one like in the renaults or even the xc60.
