Which radio for a 1987 Volvo 760?
Hi, I’ve been looking to reinstate the original radio in my 1987 Volvo 760 turbo, however there seems to be different radios in different models. Does anyone know which is the correct radio for the year?
Thanks |

Which dashboard have you got? Is it the facelift one or the 740 style?
With either, there was a standard one (which i'm not too sure what it was) and some available options including a double-DIN unit with a graphic equaliser in the bottom half, a single-DIN unit with a cubby hole underneath (this is what i've got although i didn't have the OE radio) and a few other options. The earlier (pre-facelift) dash seemed to only have one size option as far as i know but i could be wrong.

It’s a pre facelift 760/740 dashboard. It currently has an aftermarket stereo with storage underneath. My facelift one has an original graphic equaliser 2 storey radio.
Thanks for the advise |

There is a CR-906 available on a thread about a 98 940 being broken at the moment - however i should point out someone else currently has first refusal but it seems the plugs between the OE CR-706 as fitted to the 740s of the time (and i understand, early 940s) are not compatible with the later 906 version.
All depends what wiring you have in your 740, if someone has used the plug-in patch-leads then you can easily revert to the OE radio or simply find a replacement DIN sized generic uint with DIN ISO connectors if that's what you have.

It's unlikely a 1987 would have had a CR-906 ... more likely a CR-702, if that. Bob
