hi
I don't have the radio code for my HU605 radio in my v40, but if I take it out, there is a label on the top with a serial number and right at the bottom of the label, near the front, there is a 4 digit number, could someone who knows there security code, check, and see if the number printed on theres matches there code. many thanks chris |

It's quite common for the 4 digit radio code to be placed on a sticker on the set somewhere - key in what you have and see what happens? (You can't do it any harm if that isn't the code.) Failing that, Volvo will give you the radio code if it's still the original set if you call up your local franchised dealer with your VIN &/or reg. no.

This has tended to be, rather unfortunately, the case with Volvo stereos over the last 10 yrs or so. I've not owned a single Volvo in that time period, which has not had the radio code printed on the stereo itself, and its clearly seen when the radio is pulled out of its location. Kind of defeats the purpose of a radio code in the first place.
If however, it does not work, any Volvo dealer will be able to give you the code if you can prove ownership of the car. Some actually will try to shark you and charge you for it in order to make a quick buck, don't have any of that! |

thanks guys,
i don't need the code yet, but was wondering if it was, as i intend to remove the radio, and fit my speed camera detector to the power line. |

will it looks like the code wasn't printed on the radio after all, not even close.
I phoned my local volvo dealer, gave them the vin number, and reg details of the vehicle, and they gave me the code, very kind of them. funny, i thought they would have wanted the serial number of the radio unit. |

the code will be ok as long as the set is in the same car as it was fitted when new,if not you are stuffed.
some will give you the code from the radio serial number. failing that there are numerous places on the net which will provide the number for like a tenner.all of this makes a coded radio a bit of a waste of time |

I don't think these internet places provide "the" number, I think they provide "a" number, i.e. you start again, which for a tenner is better than a dead radio. Anyway, it seems to be sorted now
