Ahh right, ok.
The early turbos were indeed oil cooled only, and I think they added water cooling in 85/86. That said, I'm pretty sure a oil/water cooled turbo will operate fine without the water lines hooked up (maybe best to plug the holes though). I'm sure I read somewhere that they only introduced water cooling as people were switching the car off straightaway and didn't let it cool down for a minute or two after a run.
