Default Wheel removal and problems with full lock

Is there a known problem in removing the wheels on a 1998 V70?
I have just tried to take them off, and am unable to do so.
Are they prone to being 'welded' on if not removed for some time? If so is there a knack of getting them off?
Also noticed that when on full lock the inner tyre is rubbing on the inner wheel arch on both sides? Any reasons why?
The tyres are 16 inch 205's with alloy centres.
Thanks in anticipation
