... Snap!
Afternoon all
I took yesterday (Friday) of work to do some fiddling around with my 855 TDI, include changing oil etc and book it in for a cambelt change (I decided not to replace it myself). Unfortunately, on Thursday evening as I approached a roundabout, the cambelt snapped and pretty much every light on the dashboard lit up before we rolled to a halt. Much as i hate to admit it I think that it is terminal for the car, which was just approaching 270,000 miles. However, before I start pulling bits off it I thought I'd see if there are any sensible checks that should be made to confirm that it hasn't been lucky and avoided anything too major? I've taken off the cambelt cover and the top cam gear slides backwards and forwards (good/bad sign?). The cam gear doesn't want to turn very far but I've not forced it. Thanks in advance for any help Kind regards Bill
