These "key ways" make it obvious if the bulb is fitted correctly. It don't rock .If you are trying to fit the bulb with the headlight in situ it will be difficult to know the bulb is located correctly as a view of what you are doing esp on the O/S is almost impossible. I would also recommend fitting the bulb first then attaching the connector as manouvering room with a bulb attached to the connector is limited and if you knock the bulb on the housing when trying to fit it, its a 70% chance you'll break the bulb. I broke mine trying to remove old bulb and practiced various ways of reinstalling before using the new bulb. Good luck. Cheers Bob |

I have factory fitted zenons in my 2003 V70 and owned the car since new, one bulb failed within six months and replaced free by main dealer, the second one failed in 2012 . The light output had a pink tinge for a few days before failing, it was replaced with a cheap chinese D2R cost around £7.50 from a Manchester ebay shop and despite it claiming to be 4300k I think its more like 6000k, its passed mots since with no advisorys regarding the obvious imbalance between the original Phillips and the Chinese bulb.

Had it in for the MOT at the garage who fitted the bulbs last time and it's passed in the head lights. I thought I'd have another look at the bulbs to compare to the pic and they have moved them round so it faces exactly to 6 o clock. Could tell it a lot better on the road late last night. A lot brighter on the road and not as much on the near side hedges.
