Hi everyone,
I have a 240 7-seater. I wish to know if the rear (6th & 7th) seats can be removed and fitted into any of the other older Volvo estates. Thanks Paul |

By older estates do you still mean 240s, or older models like 140 etc?
As far as I know they are standard for all the 200 series. Don't forget when removing them that there are mounting backing plates that are part of the kit, not the car. In particular remember the 4-holed one in the middle of the floor, with a plate underneath just in front of the petrol tank. Two of the bolts hold the catch mechanism, but the other two secure the plate itself. If the threads are rusty this can be a real pain to remove. Buyers of allegedly complete secondhand kits neeed to be especially sure that they are getting this bit. All other bolts can be angle-ground off and replaced if seized. |

Thanks for the quick reply. I was meaning an early 700/900.
I've not had one of these models, are they as good as the 240's? Cheers Paul |

![]() You will need the seat conversion from a 700/900/90 for these larger cars. The inside measurements are quite a bit bigger than the dear old 240. All the best, Peter |

Someone who has just fitted one in a 700 tells me that unlike the 240, all the backing plates and captive nuts are already in place. So forget my earlier waffle.
