Hour to have a go at one today. Unfortunately I spent most of yesterday learning how to replace the intercooler pipe which acquired a spilt. Never done it before in my life, messy as hell, but I did it

ok well I tried wiht a heat gun but they were a bit too stubbourn and would not budge, and I cant risk breaking them as I have nothing else available and not enough time to not be able to use the car, so instead I opted to have a go with the wet sand paper approach, starting at 180 moving slowly up to 2000, then I purchased a ****ty halfords headlight restore it (I had nothing but sand paper no laquor or anything) and used it after the sand paper.

The sand paper amazingly did a great job of removing almost 90% of the visible crackling I had, and I had alot (Ill atatch an image of the other one not yet done) and the gel stuff in this little halfords kit seemed to help as well, though I also added some Pink stuff to it to give it another rub.

Then the spray coating they provided, and to be honest I am happy for the next year with these results, clear and no visible cracking.

All together I rubbed the lens with each grade of paper for about 5 minuts (120, 200, 240, 280,320, 400,500,650, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500 and 2000) using just water nothing else, and circular motions.

I stayed with the 2000 for about another 10 mins. =Once you stop and dry it off it looks like it goes all misty, but then you add the little gel stuff in the halfords restore kit, rub that on with the abrasive sponge they give you, and a little pink stuff if you want, wipe dry, still looks a tiny bit misty. Spray on the coating and it clears right up, sets in a few mins and your good to do.

Ill post a pic of the one done and the one not done.

Impressed at a total spend of £10 for the sandpaper and £30 for the little kit, which if I wasnt rushing I could have got cheaper in seperate parts

So this is the one I have not yet done, it is not as bad crackling as the one I have done, but it is certianly worth doing it when you look at the one I did do, and the crackling was real bad

This is the one I did this morning, I didnt do it all because I was not sure if it would even work at all, so next time Ill do the entire thing and take a bit longer, but this was about 30 mins to get it like this, and it was far worse than the pic above

Sure there is still a light mist on the lens but as I said I was not doing a thorough job, just wanted to see if it would even work, now I see it can work, Ill do it better next time I have some time.

Well, that looks better, but yours was obviously cracked on the outside...

Mine are cracked on the inside, not so bad yet fortunately, but when the time comes I could only do a replacement job.

Thanks.

This search "volvo v70 headlight lens glass" on AliExpress does not give me what I need? Only P2, or XC60 :-(

So, please give us the link for a pair you've got for 60 quid :-)

TNX.

For the s80 2013 there is quite a lot, I got new light washers and the white plastic cover, one of each fir both sides and it cost only about 40 and you don't have to pay until you get the order delivered
