Hello Clan,

I don't want to have an arguement here, but I can assure you that the particle filter that I purchased IS for a volvo V50 1.6d. I can prove it because I have the installation guide provided by Volvo with all the diagrams that show the exact filter. (see the attachments).

If anyone can explain how-come this filter is designed by Volvo for the 2.0d and the 1.6d but will no fit, I would be very interested.

Thanks for your comments.

Hi,

I think the p. filter you have is for the newer models "2009 onward?" where the EOLYS additive system was discontinued. In newer models these filters regenerate without the need for additive... I think

Here's a link explaining how the eolys system works in your car.

Thanks for the info, and thanks for the link, but if you look at the Volvo Installation Instructions, you can see that Volvo say this part is for Year 2006 onwards.

Sorry, the mystery still isn't solved.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Its not about arguing , it is about people spending their free time trying to help you ..

The first photo is the D4164T particle filter

The second photo is the D4204T particle filter , see the two thin pipes i mentioned above ,

That filter you bought may well be a fake from china or something ..
Thje volvo particle filters retail at about £500 so anyone selling one for about £130 has to be too good to be true ...

Sorry, can't help with that one. My car is a EURO III without this nonsense so I really can't advise on the price.

But according to others, they go for around 700€ at the dealers.

Again... thanks for the info.

I have just received an e-mail from the seller (who specialises in Volvo parts).

Apparently, the V50 & S40 1.6d and 2.0d were both sold (for a short while) without any particle filter.

This filter is a filter that is to be added on to a car that was sold without a particle filter (consequently why it is approved for both the 2.0d and 1.6d) to improve exhaust emissions (I don't know how it is in the UK, but in Germany they will not even permit vehicles that don't have a DPF in to certain city centers).

The seller has agreed to refund the full purchase price, so I don't think that he is bent.

So... I think that the mystery is solved... this is a DPF for adding on to a car without one.

I didn't even know that this was possible.

Hello Guru,

I have now solved the mystery... this part is for a V50 that was sold without the DPF.

Since you say that your one doesn't have it, are you interested in this part? I can e-mail you all the documentation if you want so that you can see it is not a scam part.

It was manufactured by twin-tec in Germany (website: www.twintec.de). Here is more info: http://www.twintec.de/en/index.php?a...rogramm#select
