Ellemann-jakobsen
This might interest some of you, I've been in contact with Catharina from Ellemann-jakobsen and they are still operating and have a website: http://www.ellemann-jakobsen.se/ Anyone looking for tuned engine parts they should be able to sort you out. I fancied one of their valve covers but they don't make them but are considering getting some new ones made but with Italic writting to preserve the value of the originals as only 1500 were made. I'll let you know if they do make a new batch as I think they look quite smart.

Their rocker covers are pretty good. I'd agree with you on that:

Was having the IPD cover in my hands during the classic volvo show last weekend here in Netherlands. The IPD cover was promoted with the seal for 140 EUR but it looks a bit boring. I think the price was OK but still left it laying at that boot.
Mitch: I have done also a request to Ellerman to see whether they are considering a re-production of their whicjh I like but there also used to be the ones with R-Sports or M-Sports amongst the UK-Locals from Ruddspeed (or didn't ruddspeed make the same?) Will keep you posted |

received quick answer saying basicly it will only be sold with their engines...
Hi Joseph We dont have any covers to sell. We did 1500 pieces back in the 60s. We maby will do some new if we find any good one to do them. They will not be the same as the old ones. We will do something with the letters. We will probubly only sell it with by us built energine. Regards Catharina Ellemann-Jakobsen |

I'll post the rest of the photos up of the shop if it's not derailing the thread. I'm impressed that Catherine got back to you as well. If my numbers came up, I'd be ringing them for a tuned lump.

Did you post the pics of VP Autoparts anywhere, would be interesting to see?
I've bitten the bullet and gone and ordered one of the valve covers, I really like that style of cover. A bit overpriced but I couldn't find a nice used one of that type unfortunately so it will be my Chrissie present... Last edited by Burdekin; Dec 18th, 2011 at 15:13. |

My Chrissie present turned up today and after a 40min wait at the parcel force depot I got my new valve cover. I was wondering how VP autoparts could sell Volvo marked covers and they don't really, they come with a stick on Volvo badge to go in a milled space on the cover, see the pics. They are cast aluminium and the casting is okay but the black painted area has a rough type finish and the top and sealing face are machined. I'm going to polish the top surface and will stick on the badge after that but I'm wondering if a fully polished surface or another colour other than black would look good. Any suggestions of a another colour or would polished looked the best?
Edit: Found the below pic and thought the smoother glossy black look and polished top and cap will look good. I'll try and nickel plate a cap and see how it turns out. Last edited by Burdekin; Dec 24th, 2011 at 15:11. |
