S80 2.5D Engines
Has anyone else had this problem. My fuel pump developed a fault at 65000 miles. I believe this is the Audi 2.5 Diesel engine, my car is a 2000 X plate. As I had the 60K service done by my local garage Volvo would not even entertain looking at covering or helping under warranty. The fault code reading was saying to install a new fuel pump at a cost of £1400. I managed to get the fuel sensor solenoid changed by a local fuel injector specialist at a cost of £100. when returning my car to Volvo to check this had cured the fault I was told that my fuel pump timing was out. I decided to leave this until my next service.
I have since found out that Volvo have issued a new check to the main dealer service that all fuel pump timimg should be checked and adjusted at 20K intervals. However on speaking with the dealer that had been servicing my car prior to me buying it I found that they only check it on the 60K service. If the timing is out then it could lead to starting problems and bad acceleration. It would also help find out if there were any fuel pump problems prior to the 60k service wich is then at the end of any Volvo warranty period. Make sure that you get verification that your dealer is checking the pump timing.
