Default aluminium cylinder head

I need to replace my aluminium cylinder head, as one of the plugs has a crossed head.It must have been like it when I bought the car, and was certainly replaced when I changed the HG
.

As there dont seem to be many people who will rethread the plug hole with the head in situ, if I can replace the head, then it seems sensible.

Question tap rench

try phoneing round some enginering firms years ago there was a tap that you could just put down into the plug hole and it cleaned the threads up , i am sure there was aome metal fragments that went into the cyclinder bore but it got me out of a fix a few years ago.good luck.

that is a very good tool for cleaning the threads up if they are damaged at the start.. But there still needs to be some threads remaining.

If they are totally stripped, then helicoil is the only option.
