Post Free access to DVLA's info on any car

Hi,

I thought this might be a useful website for people.

http://www.rac.co.uk/web/carbuying/vehicle_data_search/

Enter any registration number and find out when the car was registered, what make, how many previous owners. Certainly useful if you are thinking of buying a new car.

This RAC one gives more information than DVLAs own free search, but you can access DVLA's here:

http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/

Go to above link then click on "vehicle enquiry".

Cheers,
Pete

Hm..one says my car was manufactured in December 1995 and the other says it was registered in June 1995. Clever.

IMHO the RAC one is hopelessly inaccurate. One of my cars comes up as being 2006 years old, and the other isn't even recognised..... Both are currently taxed & on the DVLA system!!!

Well at least we've all got quite a bit of use out of it even if it's not 100% accurate

I've also noticed that for older cars it will sometimes not list the actual date registered, and just defaults to the last date of the year for some reason.

The other odd - or worrying! - thing is that I've scrapped a car before but there is no record on the DVLA system about this, it doesn't have any change of owners since when I bought the car!

RAC have got my S60 down as an Estate! Oddly enough, when I got the V5C when I bought the car it said "Estate" and I had to get the DVLA to change it.
