Default Thanks to the Forum

Just thought I would let you know about my recent experience with my 940.
It was suffering from a very lumpy missfire on tickover that dissapeared when revved. Changed all the basics, plugs , leads etc - no better, then took it to my local garage where they diagnosed a burnt valve and I would need the head removed and a heafty bill would ensue. I checked the forum for some advise and an air leak had been suggested for this fault, so I checked hoses between the air mass meter and inlet manifold , nothing obvious, back to forum, a suggestion was to spray the manifold near to the gasket with wd40 to see if there was a change in running, the engine nearly stalled !
One £1.90 gasket and 1 hour later tick over perfect. so a great big thankyou to you all , my volvo is running sweeter than ever and Ive saved hundreds of pounds into the bargain....

Also, it's nice to know the outcome of a technical problem I've noticed on many car forums that people post a problem and lots of suggestions etc. get forward but then all too often you never get to find out what the result was and whether you were actually any help or not!

So to all those who report back, thanks for doing so and please everyone do let others know what the outcome of things are, if for no other reason than it helps people with the same fault sometime in the future.

Pete

I will say this in the (attempted) defence of those who do not reply, and I think I need to include myself in that number. Once the suggestioins have been digested and tried with success, the local elation is such that we tend to think that everyone who has followed the thread has also realised the wisdom of the various advices and worked out the answer. I for one will try to make amends in future.

Snap Migrator, I come under that category also. The trouble is that members pass on all their suggestions and followers of the thread do not know which one worked. I will also try in future to complete the thread with a result.
