Car won't start
Got in car this evening to come home and car wouldn't start. Not a hint of an engine turnover and jump start didn't help. All lights on dash come on when I turn the key but no engine movement. Message on dash to turn the wheel to release steering lock but stering lock is not on. Tried spare key. Me thinks engine has been immobised - just guessing. Anybody any clues????

Does the starter click? How well charged is the battery? As it is getting colder, it can be a battery which has just "passed away"

Sounds like it could be the ignition switch, aparantly a weak point on these cars.

You'll need to call a Volvo dealer to ask. I recall it mentioned on here they are into their 3rd design of this switch.
May be worth asking if Volvo will contribute to the cost as it's a known problem.

check to see if you have continuity between battery+ and starter because there is a fuse on the lead near battery which blew on mine
