I don't know if it is relevant to the OP but my R Design electric seat is offset left from centre by about 1 inch.

Has someone with major back problems, I find the Volvo seat the most comfortable I've ever sat in, it's the reason I keep buying Volvo's.

I've driven most German cars (BMW, Merc, VW, etc) and they are all so uncomfortable, German car seat I find very hard, the only thing more uncomfortable than a German car was a Honda CRV, felt like I was sat on a park bench.

I always have my car seat set as low at the back as possible, as high at the front as possible (so you're sat in a bucket and your own weight always slides you back into your seat), I have the lumber completely in (can't do with something pushing in my back) and lastly it's the seat back angle, that takes some playing around with but I tend to have it straight'ish (just so my shoulder doesn't hit the door pilar) than its how close to the steering wheel, it's setting that distance and the back angle because one effects the other.

Generally, if its your lower back you should do the opposite of this; bucket seats trap leg blood flow and put pressure on the lower spine.

Tilting the seat base flatter feels odd at first but helps restore spine curve. Works for me (except in the horrible astra hire cars work keep giving me).
