V50 2.0d Buyers Guide
Hey Up.
Looking to get missus new car in new year so looking at v50 as i currently have an S70 T5. Any advice regarding issues etc to be aware of? So they have the same daft dmf+dpf as most other new diesels? How much for replacements and how often do they go? What are the intercoolers like on these and are these needing replacing after so long as well? Cheerz Zaff

Others use the DPF like that in a V70 which requires no oil, no top up, and no replacement until failure, which is usually well into the car life It is possible to establish via the vin code and the Volvo parts list for the individual car which DPF is fitted. How you establish this when ordering a new car I don't know, but I guess a switched on dealer (or Volvo UK) can find out which are being fitted to which models at the current time I have a V50 with the second system. I do know that the oil top up system is expensive and, personally, I wouldn't go down that road if I was buying a new car Apart from that, the V50 is comfortable and quite economical For reasons of comfort, I'd stick to 16" wheels. 17" and particularly 18" can be rock solid, especially on poor road surfaces |
