Hi,
went to use the XC yesterday only to find a damp carpet in the passenger foot well. I looked online and most seem to suggest it's the sunroof drains at fault. I looked on here and some other forums and found this article, http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthr...f-drain-repair so went home before for lunch and had a go it took me 30 mins all in to do both the passenger and drivers side. All you need are a mini socket set with a 10mm socket and a stanley knife to trim the end of the + on the rubber elbow. I used some good motorcycle cleaner to flush the pipes, but i bet Fairy would do just as good. I'm using desiccant packs and a heater to dry out the carpet as it was'nt too wet. If you've got this problem try this fix, if you can build a Ikea table you can do this i promise you. |

The damp carpet is just the tip of the iceberg! you will find gallons of water in the floor well . Repairing the drain tube is just 5% of fixing the car ...
it is going to be a very expensive job when the electronic components on the floor are ruined . remove front and middle seats and carpets as soon as possible and dry out ! There is 6 inches of foam on the back of the carpet which absorbs the water for years before it gets saturated and becomes visible on top as yours is .

He's absolutely right, mine took a whole day hung up in the sunshine to dry! To fully cure the problem you may need to replace the sun roof seal - with A pillar trims removed, check for leaks by simulating heavy rain with a hose pipe. If the seal is letting significant quantities of water past, the drains won't be able to cope and eventually the sunroof gutters will overflow into the car. Replacing the seal is a DIY job. With the sun roof closed, unclip the top of the plasic 'bellows' each side inside the sun roof, remove the 4 securing bolts and lift out. Cut off the old seal with a sharp knife and carefully fit the new self adhesive seal carefully cutting off the excess length. Ensure the sun roof is flush when refitting, to avoid wind noise. Err on the side of slightly below at the front and slightly proud at the back if you can't get it flush all the way round.
