Default Postscript - fuel filter renewal

I thought I would let you know what happened with the fuel filter renewal . Duly de-pressurised the system and as you so rightly advised the banjos were very tight - so much so that when trying to restrain the filter with the integral filter hex and open ended spanner, whilst trying to undo the banjo - the filter itself fractured !
Petrol in a bucket!
Eventually the only way I could manage the petrol situation was to cut the main feed pipe from the tank and clamp it I EVENTUALLY (!) got the banjo taking the fuel to the engine released but not the other banjo to pump. I then disconnected the electrics to the pump - took the whole thing to the bench and eventually got the other banjo released.
With hind sight I should have done that in the first place !!
As they say replacement is the reversal of...... It is except that I had to sleeve the tank to pump pipe and jubilee it afresh- and despite new copper washers the banjo to pump connection persistently leaked and eventually was tightened inordinately to make a fuel tight seal. Eventually all functioned as designed !

Hi great to hear everything worked out ok. However I remember the slight worry as petrol spilled a bit while I was changing my filter, and I hoped no one would pass by the garden smoking a cigarette!
