Body repair
Dum de dum, wasn't me, it was my fiancee.......
Actually, that's a total lie. I'm gutted. After many years of never having given my car a ding I have reversed bruiser into a bollard. Thankfully the bollard was coated in plastic, the speed was very low and it was a glancing blow to the side of the car. I have ended up with a scuff on the rear bumper where it wraps around the side of the car under the fuel filler flap, this is just on the surface but has broken the surface of the paint in 4 thin scratches down the scuff. There is also a dent about 4 inches long, one inch high and 1/2 an inch deep in the body of the car under the fuel filler flap, although this has not broken the paint on the body at all. Has anyone used any of the repair franchises like Dent Master, Chips Away or Dent Wizard? I have heard good things about Chips Away for stonechip repair and they claim to sort dents etc too. If these guys can do a good job with minor bodywork repairs then a bodyshop seems like overkill, but I want to get it done properly. Does anyone hae any experience they can offer with getting this sort of minor damage sorted? If it helps I'm in the north Hampshire/south Berkshire area. Cheers, J |

J,
I have used paintless dent removal via a reputable bodyshop several times with great success for removing small door dings or dents. I tried setting up on my own before with somebody the Volvo shop recommended. The guy was always calling to reschedule after the appointment time. So after the second time I used my local bodyshop to do $60-80USD depending on the size and complexity of removing the dent. Good luck |

I used "Little Knocks" in Harefield (see members' discount forum) last year for a kerbed alloy and can't recommend them highly enough. Although you have to go to them (AFAIK), the guys there are all bodyshop-trained and are all car enthusiasts - so you know your car is in good hands.
One endorsement is a local chap who has sent a lot of his cars (That he's collected) for a bit of TLC. When I was in there getting my alloy done they were doing work on his Maserati Ghibli (I think) roadster and had done work on some very rare cars eg Jag D-type, his 2 Lamborghinis etc....

I ended up using the Headly Bodyshop in Headley (doh!) just outside Thatcham, Berkshire.
They are Volvo approved, and did a really really good job on the car. To repair the dent and bumper, replace the rubbing strip in the bumper, polish the bonnet to get rid of some bird "do" marks and go round the car and touch up a number of minor blemishes cost £330. The service was excellent and the results were immaculate, you would never know the damage had been there. Highly reccomended. Cheers, J |
