Good on you - keep it going.

My 1989 740 Estate failed its MOT - mainly on all sorts of steering problems and a leaky clutch slave cylinder - and a blown number plate light. After consultation with the local garage that maintains it we agreed that the most cost-effective and enduring solution was to replace the entire steering rack (all of which was worn - not just the tie bars and track rod ends) and fit a new slave cylinder. This comes a few months after having a blown cyclinder head gasket fixed, repaired heater matrix, new clutch, new distributor, new water pump, replacement headlights and bodywork repairs. Hopefully it will run sweet for a while yet!
