urgent system service required
I was driving my 2005 XC 90 WHICH HAS BEEN SERVICED 2 months ago this evening, its a diesel automatic, I was around 40-45 mph, suddenly my steering jammed and car begun to lose control. I some how manage to stop it (thank GOD), THERE WAS A MESSAGE which read " URGENT SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED". The car refused to start after that, I was towed home.
Any suggestins what might have happened. Thanks |

hi lift off the engine cover and to the left you will see a small arm coming out of the top of the engine next to an injector ,this arm should be atached to another one but prone to breaking ,its only small couple of inches long usually some oil around where it comes out of the engine.if it has broken it will through up this warning worth a look good luck .

Sure you didn't run out of diesel as the symptoms are the same - engine dies so power steering fails and no brake assistance. Obviously won't start.
Gives the urgent engine warning as part of it... How do I know - happened to me a month ago due to the fuel gauge failing and even though indicated half a tank of diesel it was bone dry.... Just a simple thing to check - put in some diesel, turn key to position 2 and leave for 30 seconds a few times (primes the fuel lines) then try to start. |

Have just had exactly the same problem as Bluey on our XC90 tonight. Tank still reading half full. 4.5hours later the AA recovered me home on a flatbed and dropped car at garage.
Will phone them in the morning to try fuel before any other diagnostics. What's the problem with the faulty gauges and is it an easy fix? I reckon that I must have done 300 miles since I filled up full a week ago. My calculations would put this around 1/4 of a tank left(ish) so half full doesn't sound right to me... |
