Last night when my wife arrived home in the car she told me her key fob wouldn't oven the car when she came to it and the alarm went off she had to open the car by putting the key in the door and the alarm went off when she started the engine. we then went out in the car using my key problems car was locked and left at supermarket and at a pub after that. we then arrived home and i put the windscreen cover on as i had done a hand full of times before it traps in the door at each end of the screen so a little bit is in the car at each end. at 12.45 we were woken by the alarm going off i went to the car unlocked it then locked it again within 15 mins it went off again this time i took the cover off the screen and pressed the button to disable the interior sensors it didn't go off again and my wife says its not gone off today just parked where she works.
ok here's some things im going to point out incase they matter my wife only drives the car 3 miles to work and 3 miles home a day most days she has the heater and blower on full and the heated seat on full as it is cold at the moment. we do more miles on the weekend but that's all in the week. i have 2 new batteries for the fobs to put in tonight and i am going to check the voltage of the cars battery with my meter when she comes home. other than that im stumped do you think the screen cover could be the problem or the having to open it manually. please help thanks everyone. |

P2 vehicle by any chance? More than 4 years old?
Any sign of "alarm service required" on the dash display? More than likely the battery in the alarm module is knackered. Do a search for "alarm siren module" http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/search...archid=2004398 Easy fix (but a bit pricey for such a simple and common fault).
