Default Paint restoration

My 1999 S40's paintwork is very tired looking - it's been through countless car washes over its 7 years with us - I can't ever remember hand washing it

I'm just too lazy to put the effort in to T-Cut it myself - 'cause if I did, I just know the elbow grease levels would start off high initially - and plummet as the hours went by

Has anyone used a valeting company who offer paint restoration and, if so, were you happy with the results? I assume that once the paintwork is back to a decent condition it would be easier to maintain it. [assumes that elbow grease is still not avoidable!!]

A quick google gave me this company Clean-Image. They are not local to me, but the services offered are probably what my car needs.

My car is that weird Volvo colour of Tropical Lime - [aka Mustard or Bronze - NOT green as indicated in the log book]. What possesses Volvo to pick such obscure descriptions!!

So, who has had their car done and would recommend it?

Cheers

Homer, try "auto wizards" from kilmarnock. They will come to you and will do a small patch of your car to show the effect. I have had them out for tons of stone chips on my bonnet. They fill the holes with coloured gunk then buff it off. it looks ok from 2 or 3 feet. Quoted me £150 for full car.Where are you in renfrewshire,I am in Hillington. you can see where mine has been done. The only reason I have not had mine done is lack of funds, more important things need done first.

Cheers Chris,

I'm in Houston now - previously 7 years in Kilmarnock!!

Mind you - I'm on and off the M8 at Hillington every day coming/going through the Tunnel - the way the traffic is at the moment they could meet me at any point between there and the Airport and have the job done whilst I crawl through the roadworks

Homer, it is a mob called Fast lane alloys on the old Irvine road. Just in case you know of them. The price they quoted me was to do all stone chips and any other blemishes/scrapes and buff the whole car. I thought it was quite reasonable. Probably cheaper for a freshen up. www.ssreurope.com is the franchise they have.
Know what you mean about the M8, all other roads around Paisley are affected as well.

Oh, and now some bright spark has decided to close the Georgetown Road for repairs - the only available route to bypass the roadworks and get through Renfrew

Planners and brains don't go hand in hand
