My Uncle's 940 (NA) has EGR. Apparently the head has 4 extra ports on the exhaust side for the EGR system? I thought it was purely the manifolds that had the extra pipe work? I have a 530 head that came off my 940 that would be useful to swap as the HG has gone (300k!)
Has anybody deleted the EGR system entirely (blanked off etc) and did the ECU like it? I thought the cylinder heads were pretty much the same ( a 530 is a 530?). Mine currently has an early 80's 531 head from a 760 that popped straight on Thoughts please.

Not sure about the extra ports on the exhaust side.I was going to put a 531 head from a B reg 240 on a 940 2.0L turbo which had a 531 head. But the head from the 240 had extra ports for waterways(preheaters) and obviousely the valves would have been softer and maybe the valve seats.I'll see if I can find the pictures of both.

From what I have seen, the egr has a single pipe running from the exhaust manifold. The head is standard.
The only issue with deleting the egr is that the ecu expects the egr to be there (if that makes sense). If it caused problems, you could change to a non-egr ecu (egr was deleted after 1996 when better catalysts made it redundant).
