Default Roll-back on hill

Sorry if this is a basic question but what degree of incline/hill should it take before my car rolls back in Idle/Drive and no brake. Naturally, I don't expect the car to hold on a steep hill, but what are the experiences of others. I realise it is impossible to be specific, but I can remember my Auto Saab holding on the hill outside my house whereas my XC90 won't hold without increased revs. Is this a sign of a worn box?

no its fine , there are no specifications for this , it just depends on how much creep there is in D , with an idle speed of 700 rpm you cant expect much creep in D on idle , Anyway too much creep heats the gearbox and uses fuel remember .

Very gentle slopes and it holds steady. Something like 1 in 10.
Any steeper and it rolls back, but only needs a tiny throttle of even better...brake to hold steady.

Thank you for your reassurances - much valued. I suppose I was expecting too much of my car on a slope known locally as Angina Hill.
