1.8 bi-fuel
I'm looking into buying a factory bi-fuel 1.8 S40. I'm used to running a dual-fuel car, currently have a Vauxhall corsa factory conversion and want to trade up to something bigger.
The bi-fuel models appear to use the 1.8GDi engine, which appears to get a slating for gumming valves up. What are the real world experience of running these engines on LPG? Anything special to the model to lookout for? Thanks |

S40 LPG bi-fuel?
If you have a wander through these pages you'll find that Volvo factory bi-fuels are not without their problems of reliability and longevity.
Of course that picture will be skewed by the fact that people tend only to post up bad news rather than good on forums like this! I have a converted V70, and I've never had any major worries in over 200,000 miles of LPG motoring. It might be worth your while doing the maths on having an S40 converted to LPG. Make contact with Dai Brace (Classicswede) on here. He's the real expert. Cheers Jack |
