Thumbs up Praise where praise is due

Many of us have been left feeling let down or frustrated when dealing with car dealers and/or mechanics, so its always nice when you get quality service without getting stung for an arm and a leg.

I had been having the common problem with stalling, idling etc on my MY01 V70, that indicated ETB and/or MAF sensor problems but been fobbed of by the so called Volvo estate 'specialist' I bought the car off. After a bit of research I finally rang a specialist Volvo mechanics advertising in the South.

I was so impressed by the staff at RT Mechanics from the off. After talking things through I booked the car in for a diagnostic. Sure enough it showed errors in the ETB and a few with the MAF sensor. (No wonder the dealership I bought the car of made excuses no to give me the print out of the OBDII diagnositic!)

Car was kept in and promptly sorted. I was really impressed by the level of knowledge the lads had and the fact they where willing to talk to me. Some places I've been to dont even know which mechanic has looked at your car and even less interested in letting you talk to them.

I had done some research on the forum about ETB replacements and the costs and I was pleasantly suprised with the bill. I does help that as a VOC member I got 10% on parts and labour.

But at the end of the day the most important thing was how the car performed. I was like driving another car, problem cured and improved acceleration at low revs. Easier gear change 1-2 and no hunting at idle.
I've just come back from Wales after a weeks break with the family so it's had a really good testing. And best of all is the almost 4mpg improvement. The average for the whole week of motorway, major A, A and plenty of tight welsh lanes was 30.1 mpg fully loaded.

The next bit of work on the V70 will be a four wheel alignment (new tyres allround and the old where unevenly worn!) and the BSR upgrade from 140 bhp. I hope this will improve the performance even more and increase the torque which should improve driving fully loaded with the family. That's all planned for this Friday. I'm like a kid waiting for Christamas :-)

So praise where praise is due to all of you at RT Mechanics.
