I said get "get near" - not achieve them!!! And wind resistance is built in to the rollers.

Having said that of all the eco 1.6 diesels with 99 - 109g/km, Volvo is by far the worst for actual consumption.

My 3 Mk 4 Golf 1.9 TDIs over 14 years and 150k miles have averaged 55mpg, Combined figure is 57.6 mpg.

But other manufacturers have to use the same criteria for producing their figures - and they do represent 'real world' figures for most of us. I agree that Volvo don't produce the Govt figures -but they use them heavily in their adverts...check out the 'how far can you go' section of the DRIVe website.

Of course all makers use the same cycle. V have been more adept at gettin good figures. Real world they are not at the top of the pile despite their brochures and how far you can drive. Certainly not 850 miles to a tank!!!!!
Check out HonestJohns real world figures and spiritmonitor.de.

I am glad I am not the only one a tad disappointed by achieved mpg in a Volvo DRIVe S/S.

Putting all the if's, but's, maybe's and do this and don't do that to one side.......All I can say is that in all my years of driving and having owned lets say 30 cars..................I have never ever owned a car that returned mpg so far away from 'claimed' figures.
